Richard “Booger” Smith, age 62, of Lawrenceburg, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Lawrenceburg. Born on July 7, 1963, in Lawrenceburg, he was the son of the late Alfred Smith and the late Helen Bailey Smith. Richard was a devoted husband to his best friend, Tina Melton Smith, and they celebrated thirty-six years of marriage together. He was a man of deep faith and a loving Christian person. Richard had a passion for working on lawn mowers and was a skilled small engine mechanic. He spent many years at Murray Ohio, where he was affectionately known as Booger. Richard loved the outdoors and was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Cathedral of Faith in Lawrenceburg at 2:00 PM, with Brother Kenny West officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Richard is survived by his wife, Tina Melton Smith, daughter Kelly (Brandon) Kollefrath, brothers Jerry (Nancy) Smith, Charles Smith, sister Robbie Smith, granddaughter Emery Kate Kollefrath, and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Randy Smith, niece Tonya Smith, and great-nephew William Smith Jr.
